There is a middle ground approach between uncontested and contested divorces. This approach is known as “collaborative divorce”. In collaborative divorces the spouses have significant matters (e.g. child visitation), to settle but they wish to come to an agreement on these matters in a non-adversarial manner.
With the collaborative divorce approach, each spouse works with their own attorney to lay out a ‘proposal’ covering the various matters to be settled such as property division, alimony, child custody, and child support. The spouses and their attorneys then attend meetings together and try to come to an agreement on all contested matters.
If you feel that your partner will be willing to work with you in a collaborative manner, please contact us at our Albrecht & Albrecht Temecula Family Law practice for a free consultation with one of our family law attorneys.
